Warnings: Murderbot's canon deals with trauma and PTSD, social anxiety (which can be played for humor but still is a Thing), mindfuckery in general, and other serious topics. It also has a potty mouth.

HACKING

So Murderbot is pretty casual about hacking most systems, especially 'dumb' AI. While it's not designed for hacking, it's developed the skill over years of practice and has only refined it further as of late to ensure its safety and the safety of its clients. As such, it's very possible Murderbot may attempt to access things that are player-controlled, and as such, this is an opt-in post to grant permissions and explain what it might find!

Note that in general, permission may be requested anyway, or at least an idea pitched regarding what Murderbot's trying/intending to do; the information here will more or less give me a bit more information up-front so I can get a better idea on where the thread/plot/etc can go. Note that even if permission is not given - eg, outright said 'nah, no hacking' - it may still try, but failing is absolutely on the table no matter what. Especially for intelligent/smarter AI that isn't just a basic system.

CAN MURDERBOT HACK YO STUFF? If we chat about it outside the game sure; V has a lot of custom ICE written to discourage people from hacking him + they're from different worlds therefore different protocols so it's something that would take a concentrated effort. Again we would need to chat about it but V would react with lethal force should Murderbot get too close to breaking his ICE.
WHAT KIND OF SYSTEMS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT? Extensive implants.
WHAT CAN MURDERBOT DO WITH THE SYSTEM/HOW MUCH CONTROL COULD IT FEASIBLY GAIN? My understanding of the game is hacking the neural system = root access. For example, V has been able to release safeties on cyberware to leak toxic metals into the blood stream, or to force cyberware to overheat to boil the bodily fluids of a person.
ANYTHING ELSE? V himself is technically an AI in a semi-organic body due to events of his canon. This isn't something that really matters in most gameplay but it's something that could be played with in instances where he is being hacked.

Honestly, Murderbot might have some sort of an 'holy shit you're like me' once it realizes the last part; I'm definitely interested in seeing where their CR goes :D

she has extensive playtime on Not!Super Smash Bros and Not!God of War and her tablet is full of garbage she's written out: lists of names of voidtreckers past and present (most are straightforward nicknames rather than actual names, like 'vamplet' and 'white ribbon guy'), long rants about how bullshit it is that she's stuck without the internet again, long lists of game-like skills, attempts to sketch out magical circles on the paint app...

Unless the system has some monitoring equipment (a built-in camera or mic, for example) Murderbot'd have no way of telling. It might realize that she could notice, but it might also just...be distracted. XD

Admittedly, there's not a lot to his hardware self right now, just the peripheral devices listed above. Like I said, it's more than welcome to crib data. In addition to the books he's ordered, Dev has been compiling a LOT of data in his Interface since he arrived. His own version of the passenger roster (with photos and notes), a detailed train map (with photos and notes), pics and video of interesting or pertinent stuff he's observed... Murderbot's welcome to rifle through it all. Hell, Devero would share most of it willingly if it asks.

ANYTHING ELSE? Dev's Interface eye has a forward camera that it could tap for (very limited) surveillance. Also, he and Entrapta are working on drones to carry holoprojectors so feel free to find those project files if MB datamines his whole system and oh my god Toni I just realized how much MB's drone usage informed my 'each person is a system' bullshit for Dev's worldbuilding

Steal data, p much. Tony can absolutely hack into other systems from the phone, so if Murderbot wanted to remote-in to use it as a way to cloak himself, that could be a potential fun thing.

Nah for real, though, I'm actually really interested in this CR! At bare minimum it's going to download his media library because oh, hey, this is new, but using Tony's phone as a way of covering itself also seems interesting; especially if Tony notices his phone active when he isn't piloting it.

Yeah! Tony's annoyance at his toy being used w/out permission will be matched by how impressed he is that it managed to get through security protocols in the first place.

I'm not familiar with TMD but it sounds interesting, and this could be some neat cr, esp since Tony is very pre-Ultron and therefore not quite as concerned about potential killer AIs.

It's a situation of "everything is perfectly functional but I absolutely do not understand how." It's got music files! It's got a voice synthesizer that's honestly pretty nice given the disparity of their time periods! That is about all you can tell about it, because the code isn't any language you know, the network they're on runs on magic, the changelog develops the way an organic being's mind learns things, and the processing goes brr so hard it'll give you whiplash. CAN MURDERBOT HACK YO STUFF? Attempts are always allowed, success will be dependent. Freddy is a highly sophisticated and self aware AI who has actually faced off against a virus that made attempts to control him.
WHAT KIND OF SYSTEMS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT? As a proprietary robot belonging to a huge corporation that has knowingly covered up deaths of people, as well as outright putting lives at risk... his defenses are probably pretty substantial and may even include a countervirus. That said, he is replaceable so more than likely once the protections and counters are figured out, they could be worked around much easier again in the future.

Standard access would allow the ability to isolate Freddy from any database or servers he may be connected to, or connecting to them through him. Keeping in mind if he is not linked to a server or database as a trusted party, he only has access to open/unsecured wifi/bluetooth connections. If this is used please discuss beforehand what opt outs I may have for such technology connection, thank you :)

Athena here is an archival worker at an interplanetary university that is heavily augmented after a space accident nearly a decade before. A Rank Adult, this 35 y/o actually goes by the gamertag that they picked up while playing war strategy games during their recovery process. It stuck, and no one is complaining.

Their personal passion is media archival, especially vinyl records but any media is relevant here.

Feel free to hijack the recording feeds on the drones, although Athena will be extremely chatty about having their personal sensory augments and back up memory storage peeked into. They aren't typically the sort to hack other sentient entities, but they will clap back with a few taunts and cheap tricks.

... As a side note, Murderbot can relax with this augmented human. They have a small plasma gun built into their prosthetic arm, because SOMEONE has a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As a side note: the super secret info that Murderbot can find is their actual legal name: Mari Mackenzie.
